Recognising biocidal products

It is not always easy to determine whether a product is a biocidal product or not. How can you find out?

    Definition of biocidal product

Biocidal products are pesticides used to deter, render harmless or destroy unwanted organisms. Along with plant protection products, biocidal products fall under the heading of pesticides. To know if a product is a biocidal product or not, you must refer to the legal definition of a biocidal product according to the Biocidal Products Regulation (Regulation (EU) No 528/2012).

    Borderline products

Some products fall into a kind of twilight zone: they are somewhere between a biocidal product and a medicinal product, a veterinary medicinal product, a plant protection product, etc. On the basis of a few clear guidelines, you can determine the difference.
