New features in the authorised biocidal products search engine

Thanks to the public search engine, you can consult the list of biocidal products authorised on the Belgian market and obtain useful information about their characteristics.

Two types of search are available:

  • Simple search: quick and easy to use
  • Advanced search: allows you to refine the results according to several criteria.

Finding an effective product against a harmful organism

The advanced search now allows you to easily find products authorised against one or more specific pests.

You can perform a search:

  • By scientific name (in Latin),
  • Or by common name, in English, Dutch, German or French (depending on the language selected for the page).

You can also combine several target organisms:

  • By clicking on “AND”, you will get the products that are effective against all the selected organisms.
  • By clicking on “OR”, you will see the products that are effective against at least one of the selected organisms.

Clever search

The search engine goes further:

If you are looking for a product against a specific organism (e.g. Escherichia coli), it will display:

  • Products that are specifically effective against this organism,
  • But also those that are effective against larger groups, such as Gram-negative bacteria or simply bacteria in general.

Explore the hierarchy of target organisms

A complete hierarchy of target organisms is available via a link in the advanced search.
It shows you, in hierarchical order, all target organisms (or groups of organisms) for which biocidal products are authorised in Belgium.

Another new feature: it is now possible to find the product information sheet for a product generated in situ (a product whose active substance is produced directly where it will be used) by searching for the name of its precursor (the substance or mixture initially used to generate this active substance).
